W10863 Beautiful George II sweetmeat glass or coupe with double ogee bowl with everted rim decorated with 'nipt diamond waies' above annulated collar, on 'teared' eight-sided 'Silesian' or pedestal stem with diamonds moulded to the shoulder, basal annulated marese and domed and folded foot decorated en suite with 'nipt diamond waies'. Circa 1740.

W1599 Rare Georgian small wine glass decorated in red and white enamel with oval portrait medallions representing Prince Henry Benedict Stuart Cardinal Duke of York* linked by foliate festoons and pendants below gilded rim, on stem cut with hexgonal hollow facets. Probably decorated by Anthony Taylor, the Scottish enameller formerly of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Circa 1790.

*Cardinal Henry Benedict Stuart (1725-1807) was the last Stuart claimant to the English Throne. He was the younger brother of Prince Charles Edward Stuart, the 'Young Pretender' or 'Bonnie Prince Charlie'. Both were the sons of the 'Old Pretender', James Francis Edward Stuart known to his Jacobite supporters as King James III of England and VIII of Scotland. On the death of Prince Charles in 1788, Cardinal Henry inherited the claim and became known to his supporters as King Henry IX of England and Henry I of Scotland.

W1578 Unusual late 19th century German marriage or bridal glass with gilt metal maiden holding her arms aloft supporting pivoted pale green wine cup gilded with fruiting vines, her skirt comprising a bell shaped bowl gilded with fruiting vines below the inscripton 'Alles Glück dem Brautpaare' (Good Luck to the Betrothed Couple). Circa 1890.

W1613 Rare Georgian Jacobite goblet with ogee bowl inscribed 'DRUMMOSSIE MOOR'* below a row of 'star and lenticle' above basal cut facet and oval mitre flutes, on stem cut with hollow diamond facets. Circa 1770.

*Drummossie Moor is the actual location of the Battle of Culloden which took place on 16th April, 1746 when the British forces commanded by Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland decisively defeated the Jacobite army led by Prince Charles Edward Stuart, the Young Pretender (also known as Bonnie Prince Charlie).
